Dr. Roufail is a Specialist Eye Surgeon who has expertise in the diagnosis and management of eye conditions affecting the vitreous, retina and macular.His medical retina expertise includes the treatment of conditions such as :

• macular degeneration
• retinal vein occlusion and
• diabetic retinopathy

Dr.Roufail has expertise in the surgical management of retinal diseases  such as:

• retinal tears
• retinal detachments
• vitreous haemorrhage
• floaters
• advanced diabetic retinopathy
• macular disorders: epiretinal membrane, full thickness macular holes, vitreo-macular traction
• complications of cataract and other intraocular surgery including posterior lens dislocation and endophthalmitis
• complicated cataract surgery
• ocular inflammatory disease
• ocular trauma.

Dr. Roufail completed his bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at Monash University. After residency at the Alfred Hospital he undertook and completed his PhD in Medicine at The University of Melbourne. Dr. Roufail studied the effects of ageing, hypoxemia and diabetes on the structure of the retina.

Dr.Roufail completed his ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear hospital (RVEEH). This was followed by three years of advanced surgical training in vitreo-retinal surgery which was undertaken in Auckland (NZ), Nottingham (UK) and Melbourne.

After completing his advanced surgical training Dr Roufail was appointed a Consultant Ophthalmologist in the vitreo-retinal unit at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. He is currently a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Ophthalmologists, and a Member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retina specialists (ANZSRS), the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) and The European Society of Retina specialists.

Dr. Roufail is immediately available for all urgent referrals and to his patients. He currently practices at Armadale Eye Clinic, Mornington Peninsula Eye Clinic and Melbourne Retina Associates.
